| Question 1 |
How do I get started? |
| |
Since a kitchen or bath remodel is a complex process, it makes sense to engage an experienced designer to help guide you through the process. An experienced designer can help eliminate costly errors and delays by insuring that the varied steps of the remodel are coordinated and follow a logical progression. |

| Question 2 |
What will a designer cost me? |
| |
Many designers work on a fee only basis and are responsible for the design only. Other designers will work for/with a remodeling contractor and typically the design fee is included in the project price. Many firms will charge a small retainer for the design process and will credit this fee when the project is ordered. |

| Question 3 |
What is involved in a kitchen/bath remodel? |
| |
Kitchen and bath remodels are major renovations that are relatively expensive and time-consuming. Typically many trades can be involved, designers, cabinet suppliers, electricians, plumbers, drywallers, painters, tile installers, countertop suppliers, etc. Many homeowners will attempt to co-ordinate the various firms and trades, but generally it is best to work with a general contractor that has the ability to govern all the aspects of the projects |

| Question 4 |
Which cabinets are best? |
| |
There are many quality cabinet makers in the nation, but some key construction details will separate the basic from the top end cabinet companies. Generally higher end cabinets will have far more design options, door styles, and finishes. All-plywood box construction, dovetailed hardwood drawers, heavy duty hardware, and finished interiors are hallmarks of higher end makers. Many companies can offer lower-priced cabinets by using pressed wood in box and drawer construction and by offering fewer choices. | Question 5 |
Won’t semi-custom cabinets cost me more? |
| |
While higher end cabinets are more expensive, many times, due to options available, semi-custom cabinets can use fewer cabinets and/or parts and pieces to complete the design. Also fewer parts mean less labor for installation. Also stronger construction and better finishes means a much longer service life |
